Managing Secretary, Glen Golf Club

Many places claim to be the home of golf, but few can match North Berwick’s heritage. Golf has been played here since the 17th century on what is now the East Links – home of the Glen Golf Club, widely believed to be James Braid’s first course design.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Firth of Forth, Tantallon Castle, and the iconic Bass Rock, the Glen offers a truly memorable golfing experience – a course that rewards imagination, with elevated tees, hidden greens, and the constant presence of sea air.

The Club is now seeking an experienced industry professional to join our team and play a key role in shaping the next chapter of this historic and ambitious Members Club.

Candidates will be dynamic, motivated, organised and demonstrate the following: -

Proven leadership skills and commercial acumen with a successful track record in senior management and a customer centric approach.
Create, develop and execute a commercial plan in line with budget plans to deliver revenue targets in balance with members tee time availability.
Create, develop and execute a customer experience program to enhance the reputation of the club across members and visitors to the club.
An engaging style capable of motivating staff and colleagues with strong communication skills both interpersonal and via modern communication channels professionally dealing with enquiries from members of the public and the relevant authorities.
Excellent financial management skills and the ability to use systems to support decision making, reporting and operational governance.
Supplier management skills to negotiate and secure quality service providers to underpin facilities management and the customer service experience.
Forward looking to provide strategic input that shapes the future direction of the club in support of the management committee.

Managing Secretary position is full time 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working as required directly leading a 7 day golf services team.

Salary range £50,000 to £60,000, based on relevant experience with a further 10% performance related bonus in achieving annual objectives as agreed with management committee. Pension scheme and associated modern benefits package.
